ABOUT BLACKBEAM CINEMATIC
THE JOURNEY SO FAR…
Blackbeam Cinematic was founded in 2018 by Alastair Leslie, built on decades of creative‑technical practice across sculpture, fabrication, interactive media, and large‑scale projection.
Origins in sound‑as‑material and sculpture at the Royal College of Art shaped an approach grounded in spatial thinking, material experimentation, and cross‑disciplinary making. Studio work through the 1990s in London established the foundations for today’s immersive, projection‑led environments.

Early career experience spans set building and prop fabrication for film, TV, and exhibitions, progressing into interactive electronics for brands including Jaguar Land Rover, Nissan, Ford and Hewlett‑Packard, alongside major public projects such as the Millennium Dome (2000) and the UK Pavilion at Expo 2005.
Work in interactive programming and visitor‑facing media led to delivering digital experiences across Europe and the Middle East. A focus on systems integration resulted in the formation of LT Projects in 2012, producing experiential installations for Merlin Entertainments, creative agencies, and Sarner International, including the Bodmin Jail Visitor Experience.
Specialist expertise in projection design and operation followed, supported by accreditation as a Panasonic projection partner. Collaborations with Hutchison Technologies, WarPro and others expanded into large‑scale projection environments requiring technical precision, architectural sensitivity, and robust system design.
This progression—across fabrication, interactivity, systems integration, and projection—shaped the formation of Blackbeam Cinematic and its focus on cinematic, immersive environments powered by high‑quality projection.
Today, Blackbeam operates through a network of specialist collaborators assembled per project, delivering technically precise, creatively driven visual and spatial experiences for cultural, commercial, and public‑realm clients.
