Transformation: Village Hall to Urban Club Space

Popup culture sits at the heart of what we do. We take seemingly quiet village halls — the kind of spaces built for coffee mornings and committee meetings — and reimagine them as temporary club environments with real atmosphere. For one night, these rooms shift into something closer to Manchester’s Hacienda or New York Loft Studios: colour, movement, sound and projection folding into the architecture until the familiar becomes unrecognisable.

This was a full Blackbeam production: immersive light, spatial sound design and projection mapped across the hall’s surfaces to create depth and texture. Bands and DJs carried the energy; we built the environment around them. A mobile rig, fast to deploy and clean to strike, but capable of delivering a proper city‑club experience — even in the middle of rural Devon.

We love these transformations. They’re not just technical builds; they’re acts of imagination. Taking a community space and giving it a new identity for a night. Creating a room where people can step out of the everyday and into something charged, atmospheric and unexpected.

Collaboration drives this work. Recent partners include Artblock, Quiet British Accent, Pattern Recognition and Vinyl Hearts Club — all progressive, all ambitious, all committed to pushing what small‑scale venues can become. Together, we’re building a new kind of cultural moment for Devon: grassroots, immersive, and proudly independent.

More happenings are coming in 2026. If you’re in the South West, you’ll feel them.
